Anjana Vidya Kendra High School

Anjana Vidya Kendra (AVK) is a rural, co-educational Primary and Secondary school (grades 1–10) located in Desapande Guttahalli (Mugalur Cluster, Anekal Tq) bordering Bengaluru Rural District. Recognized by the Department of Public Instruction Karnataka, it was established in 2002 under the aegis of the Brahmi Educational & Cultural Trust, a registered charity dedicated to delivering meaningful education to underprivileged rural children.

The school currently serves approximately 350 students across primary to high school levels, offering a balanced mix of academic instruction and holistic development rooted in rural values. AVK is notable for its inclusive fee structure and support system:

  • Children from economically disadvantaged backgrounds—including those of single mothers, farm workers, or migrant laborers—receive free tuition and supplies.

  • Children from slightly better-off families may be charged a minimal, highly subsidized fee (ranging between ₹10,000–₹20,000 annually), typically equivalent to a day’s daily wage per month. Many families receive scholarships or pay partial amounts. The school strives to ensure no child is excluded for financial reasons.

  • School provides scholarships to deserving students for Higher Education, beyond grade 10 (based on need more than merit)

Its infrastructure is well-equipped for its rural setting: adequate classrooms,Assembly Hall, Toilets, RO based drinking water facility, Library & Reading corner, IT center with functional laptops/desktops/tablets, Digiboards, Internet access, STEM and Robotics Lab., Solar Power, and a Generator.

The school is sustained through generous philanthropic efforts—land donated by a local philanthropist, financial and volunteer support from individuals and charitable organizations and a limited funding from a few corporate partner

Core Values and Educational Philosophy

Strong emphasis is on values : self-esteem, self-reliance, honesty and respecting law of the land along with respecting rural values & farming and environmental awareness.

1. Holistic, Experiential Learning

AVK embraces learning beyond textbooks. For instance, a lesson on germination might take place in the school garden—students learn by doing in a natural setting, experiencing education rather than merely absorbing it.

2. Connection with Nature & Gurukul Values

The school marries modern pedagogy with gurukul traditions, emphasizing simplicity, respect for rural culture, and a balanced childhood. Yoga, Theatre, Veda Chanting, Farm Experience are part of schools academic calendar

3. Nutrition, Care & Inclusivity

Beyond standard mid-day meals, AVK ensures a balanced, nutritious diet for every child with support from caring Charities and individuals. Our Goshala and Organic Farm support this program in a big way. The School Management actively ensures no child misses out on education due to affordability through fee waivers and scholarships

4. Cultural Roots & Community Involvement

Festivals and cultural events are integral, promoting awareness and pride in cultural heritage. Children celebrate various traditional festivals—including regional, national festivals and the global ones—inclusive of diverse communities, reinforcing cultural understanding, patriotism and unity.

5. Empowerment & Social Responsibility

AVK nurtures not just academics but character building and responsibility. Through initiatives like entrepreneurship workshops, collaborations with esteemed educational institutions such as APU and Corporate partners, Climate Action Lab and Pehlaventure (www.pehlaventure.in) students learn sustainable living, leadership, and active citizenship.
